I’m enjoying this podcast about shipping containers more than I would have expected to. Given its ubiquity, I was surprised to learn just how recently containerization was developed. This podcast describes the shift from breakbulk cargo where everything is just loaded individually, to container shipping. I’d never considered the implications of that shift but Containers makes it clear how significant it was. It’s basically the backbone of the modern global economy.
